leilani is hostessing a trashey clutch trade on FAT using recycled plastic bags. I believe this is an idea from Alisa Burke except she uses canvas. I'm going to use mine to hold my paint brushes. I threadworked the word "FAT" on the front of the clutch and the inside is lined with a parrot fabric. This one is a keeper to commemorate the 4th birthday of FAT.
I think i am finished with this piece. Its my class canvas from Inspired Paulette Insall's class.
I used textile medium with the Caran for hair since i didn't have polymer medium. I will try this technique again. She was a fantastic teacher. I should have corrected the eye ball socket by carrying it all the way down to the bottom lid. Your eye is drawn to that eye bc of this error.
I still like the finished product very much. Thanks Paulette and everyone at Inspired.
i had a deadline to finish Dawn's IW AB RR page. I chose whimsical cartoon/comic book women for two pages. Olive Oyl, Popeye's girlfriend, inspired this page. I read an article on "Fishin' Chix" in La Vie Claire and just loved her colorful gear suited for women. I want a pair of those pink striped boots.
So i made one boot - placed it in the ocean bc Olive went fishing. It is filled with an altered domino which holds vital statistics. I so enjoyed working on this page.
Flew back from NC Inspired on Sunday. Hubby met me at the airport. All my sons and DIL and a son's girlfriend were at our home after church. Here are my flowers they gave me. And of course they always give me wonderful cards with the sweetest notes in them.
i made my friends a recycled jeans apron from my hubby's used jeans. i wanted to add something from my Caribbean cruises so i had enough coins to have holes drilled for each of us and added charms plus i picked a few more and added them. i'll show you theirs when i return from Inspired. I love the coins chain swag i attached them too. I didn't have to buy anything - everything was in my stash. How cool is that!!
this will post when i am on my way to NC so my friends Sherry and Fannie don't see it.
Yesterday i had to work, so i figured my birthday son would have to head back to the beach after he led worship here for their church and i would not get to see him. Boy was i surprised when i see him walking over to my golf area caring a red rose. My note read: "to the most beautiful woman ever, my mom. i love you".
and then he said to me "thank you for birthing me and loving me, giving me encouragement."
I told him it was his birthday and he was suppose to be getting the gifts not giving them. Not only did he stay up here for the evening but the young lady he is seeing came up to meet us and spend the evening with him for his birthday. A very leveled-headed young lady i might add.
even as i write this tears are streaming down my cheeks thinking of yesterday and my son who kept coming back to hug me and give me another kiss.
Today my son's sweet GF turned 21. Tomorrow my oldest son turns 27. I can't believe i said that - the magic age for my hubby's men to get married. Tradition - ha! My MIL turns, well, i better not say other than she has a birthday on Monday.
I won't get to see my oldest tomorrow bc i work and he heads back home for church and music.
I also can't believe after two years w/o dating he has asked a young lady out. So much is happening.
I am extremely tired and so is hubby. I will be taking a wonderful break over Mother's Day weekend and visiting with two blogger friends at Inspired. Yeah, baby. I seriously need this.
I probably won't pack until Wed. when i get a day off. I hope i have everything i will need. Truthfully i agree with Sherry the classes are second to meeting my friends.
