3 Pennies & Day 33 - 33,000 to 300

Day 33 - The God Who Sees Our Potential
The Lord is with you, mighty warrior. Judges 6:12
I love the story of Gideon. How does God do business? It definitely is not the way of the world. He does not measure a man by the world's standards. Gideon was given an assignment from the Lord, Himself. Gideon was hiding in the winepress threshing wheat. His response was like many of ours: My family is at the bottom of the list of "who's who". I am the smallest among all. Maybe Gideon was chosen because of his weaknesses.
God reduced Gideon's army from 33,000 to a small band of 300. Their weapons were trumpets, torches and clay jars. Gideon was not voted "Most Likely to Succeed". But God saw his potential and used Gideon.
Scripture says God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong - so no one may boast before God.
God delights in promoting those whose hearts are tender toward his, regardless of their status.
It's not what you do, but whom you serve, that determines your success.
Today has been another busy day. Its unusual but two days in a row outside of my home running errands is strange. On my walk with my dog I found not one, not two, but three
pennies. I lov-v-v-e-e-e that Number. One blessing for each one of my sons. I received my VIP PSI pin today from Lyn
in Florida. I am wearing a dove charm, sea shell and fish charm. Since I wasn't born with
a silver spoon in my mouth, Lyn gave me dangling, silver feet. A sleek bikini and an inchie body.
I'll post the pic maybe later after I know Lyn has received her pin from me.

I also took my neighbor to visit the Creative Circle group. I have not been back since last year sometime. Alice would like to make a baby quilt for her first granddaughter who is scheduled to arrive into this world in two weeks. She wants to do a Noah's Ark quilt.

Pennies To Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward

I checked out Veronica's blog and she has PIF. The rules are posted on her blog Dec 16 Aloo Gobi and below:

Pay it forward rules: I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a Comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange, and who make the same pledge on their own blogs . I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward.

So I decided to play. If you want to play, follow the rules and give me a post.

*8 Pennies*

One last thing - Yesterday on my daily walk I found 8 pennies and a number 4 sign. I love the fact that I found the number of pennies as I was mentioning the #8 stands for New Beginnings. My eyes fell on the first penny and before long my dog and I were following a trail of pennies. When I counted the pennies in my hand there were eight. Now how is that for a God-zinger.

I laughed and laughed and thanked God again for dropping the pennies along my way. Encouragement comes in so many different forms. Are you looking to see how yours is being brought to you?

What Dreams Are Made Of - LOVE...

It's the day we have waited on to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. We took a scenic route and stopped at the beach, where we had lunch and stayed another hour at the beach. When we returned to the ship area we walked around downtown to check out vendors. Mailed a few postcards. The day is gorgeous and for my friend that says angels drop pennies from Heaven for me. She must be right because yesterday in Antigua I found a penny and today I did a little dance for my hubby as I picked up another penny. He thinks I am crazy. But hey I love finding the pennies and being reminded of promises for my future.

This morning I was up early again and the covering of clouds did not allow me to see the stars as good as yesterday. But I did see two shooting stars and made my wishes again.

Man Droppings - What a Contrast

On October 17th I began my blog by posting a pic of what I called "man droppings". For 8 days I picked up certain found objects while walking my dog. All the objects are sitting in a bag waiting for a quilt to transpire. But it's not time yet.

Yesterday was another day of being directed to pick up certain items. I did not go looking for any specific thing but the items on this post are what I found. The first item I came upon was the rusty blade. It is corroded and nasty looking by most people's standards but I was very excited to find this object. Continuing my walk; only a short distance I found the tennis bracelet with 28 little hearts and diamonds. I can't imagine how someone lost it, its in excellent shape. But right away a thought came to mind: "what a contrast in the two items". As soon as that thought popped into my head I heard the Lord speak to me quickly, "looks are deceiving, don't be fooled by what you see". I placed the items in my pocket and continued on.

Toward the end of the walk I found 7 pennies laying together. Now I was really excited! I began to laugh. I thanked God for having the angels drop the pennies down to me. He was reminding me of a promise He had made to me long ago. And I'm sure the pennies were left behind by a human soul not angels. But my friend who always says they are dropped by angels will be excited to hear I found 7. The number seven represents "completion".

I guess they were a burden to carry in someone else's pocket. They probably considered them to be useless too. What can a bunch of pennies buy? Nothing! But a bunch of pennies found over many days and months add up. I will give them to one of my favorite charities. I am sure I have over a hundred dollars.

According to the New Webster's Dictionary and Thesaurus the definition of "contrast" as a noun is "a striking difference; a comparison to show their relative excellence." The funny thing is I also had my DH buy me the Nov./Dec. issue of "Cloth, Paper, Scissors" magazine. When I returned home I sat down to read my magazine and on the cover was the title for p66; an article titled "7 recipes for Rust." I am sure it is just coincidence that I found 7 pennies along with this article on 7 recipes for rust. No Way!! The article's inside title says "in rust we trust, faux or real, rust appeals." What a pun on the saying placed on coins "In God We Trust". Can you guess where I am headed with my artistic experimentation?

The Learning Curve

There are days you are in the learning curve. This is one of those days for me. This is not originally what I wanted to post. I wanted to upload an amateur video I did showing one of my FAT tags. Needless to say that did not happen.

So I am posting Day 2 of "Walk By Faith, Not By Sight". Day 1 was the beginning of my created blog. I never did explain what Walk By Faith is. One day as I was preparing to walk my dog I decided I wanted some rusty, old, beat up, metal bottle caps. I thought as I walked I would look for some. Like in the OT when God and Adam visited in the garden in the cool of the day, God and I have these little conversations when I walk. He and I have this "thing" about me finding pennies. It reminds me of a promise He gave to me about my life.

Anyway, looking for rusty metal bottle caps expanded on the first day into "Walk By Faith, Not By Sight" and a quilt I may make from this 8-day pickup of "man droppings". You're familiar with doggie droppings, well, man droppings is the name I call the stuff I found on my walk.

It is amazing the unusual droppings one person can find while walking! But The Creator offered a challenge to me in this pickup. I could only pickup droppings that would fit into one of my pants pockets. That proved to be even more interesting. What this little challenge made me do was to become more observant of my surroundings And of course, as I walked the angels continued to drop pennies from Heaven for me to collect and to remind me of my promise. That's what a friend tells me because everyday when I walk I call her and laugh and tell her how many coins I have found for the day. She says it encourages her in her daily walk to trust God. The metals I have found prove to be interesting pieces that draw me to do something with them. And of course, I found the old, rusty, beaten up metal bottle caps I was looking for.
