Happy 21st Birthday

Lips-Talk To Me

This is another doodle with lips from the artist Warhol.

Today is my son's 21st birthday. at 6:35 21 years ago he was born into this world. he was the sweetest baby. he had long fingernails at birth, so long we had to use the little hand covers on his hands so he could not scratch his face up. he was my longest and proved to be my tallest.

i'm so thankful to God for him. God he has been a joy and blessing to his dad and me.
Thank you God for this wonderful gift on loan for only a season.
Today we also had a situation that was very emotional but God moved on several different occasions to let us know He was in control. Thank you God for your faithfulness.
This is one day i will long remember.

It began as a tiny pinprick and turned into a cancer of great proportion.
man's programs, man's plans, man's slogans, man's opinions.

This doodle started from a group of circles out of control.

Heartache of a Father

i know as a mom your heart can ache for a child. But when you see the heart of a godly father aching for one of his own it tears even more at my heart. i love my husband's love toward his sons. but even more i love his prayers and the trust he has in God for his sons. For where our treasure is there will be our heart also. Lay up in Heaven treasures that can not be stolen or eaten by moths. In Malachi it says God will turn the hearts of the children toward the father and the father's heart toward his children.
I am so thankful for God's Word and that it is alive and working.

Trust After Two Dings

From One Doodle Line

An art doodle inspired by another great artist - Modigliani, who lived from 1884-1920. His subjects were usually his friends or people from his local area. He would paint them with long faces and almond shaped eyes along with elongated necks. His color palette was bold.

I would have lost heart, unless I
had believed
That I would see the goodness of
the Lord
In the land of the living.
Psalm 27:13

Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage.
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Psalm 27:14

today this scripture is very significant to me. my son called about two hours ago and shared that someone had hit our car while he was in church tonight. i thought he was kidding bc he is meeting with an insurance agent tomorrow from where a week ago a guy hit him in the rear end on the interstate.
my son is ministering to several hurting young men in his church. he had just walked outside to give one of them a special t-shirt as a gift. that's when he found the accident. needless to say my hubby is not happy. well, actually all i could do was begin to laugh at the enemy. if you know anything about drawing closer to God the enemy seems to attack so much harder. i pray my son will keep his eyes on God and not his circumstances. Sometimes the only thing you can do is laugh. the enemy hates that.
the last two days i have begun to pray:
Not my will but your will be done God.

God Answers Desire of Heart

DawgE Language
This is a doggie postcard for a trade i am hostessing on FAT. It is painted paper towel on watercolor paper with a fabric backing. The dog and dog house are in fabric with words printed on a label maker. i really enjoyed making this card.

Today i was so excited God answered a desire of my heart. First, my son had an interview for a job at a Montessori school. They scheduled another interview for next Wed.
i had been praying for God to give me specific connections on a subject. Well today we go in to a restaurant to eat breakfast and hubby ran into another police officer he knows. We started to talk and he was able to connect me to a person. Divine connections - i love it!!!

Slowly Drawing It

Eye C Double

for Christmas my youngest son bought me two gift sets of pencils for drawing. i love doodling, now i am practicing my circles. Drawing 101.

While in bed sick I had a lot of time to read and read i did - my Bible. When I was in a church in 2000 God began to use me during the worship services in prophetic words to the body of Christ. I had not done that in years. But the week before I got sick He began to give me His Word during my writing/journaling time. It has been amazing and very comforting. When all else is said and done the foundation I want to be found standing on is Jesus Christ alone.

Great answer to prayer - son's MRI - not a tear but bad acl strain -he starts therapy Friday.

My Toby Mac

today was an awesome day in church. i was able to experience worship with my son leading the way. that was an amazing feeling. i love the phrase "Inside Out". what we feel on the inside being expressed to the outside world. no preachy sermon, but a love you can't help but express bc of the love of Christ in your life that has changed you.

tomorrow he goes for an interview with a Montessori school. wonder where the Lord is leading him. he also shared he is praying about whether to begin dating again; there is a young lady at his church that places God first like he does. she has attracted his attention. he is praying about
whether he should ask her out.

Happy Valentine's Day

i love this card my hubby bought me for the day.

Although i can truly say he shows me love every day.

Yesterday he was in a store and bought me a large selection of paint brushes.

and here is the inside which says:

...but it will take a lifetime to show you how much!!

And this is so true, marriage requires attentiveness.

But the most wonderful love affair is when you realize that Jesus Christ

died for you and loves you so much that you take the time to accept his invitation of love.

I am thankful for that relationship bc it makes all other relationships so much easier.

Jesus - the heart of the matter.

UTEE faces

Gift - UTEE faces
these will be used on a special project.
Worship Leader
my oldest son has been ask to lead worship in a new church plant on the peninsula. we are planning on going to church with him on Sunday to hear him. he was so excited to be asked to do this. Please keep Monday 12:30 in prayer for his interview for a job.
today my youngest went for his MRI. It's so frustrating that you have to get a power-of-attorney to be able to get medical info on your own child. Just fork out the dough - they will expect that from you.
Even if he fills out the release for privacy it still is not a blanket release for his dad and i to get the results, etc. Just give them the money!!

Tweetly Deet

"B" Bop
i didn't make the FAT Feathered Birds swap.
So this littl' birdie will be flying it ways out of state and country.

The song by Bobby Day and later sung by Jackson 5.
He rocks in the tree-top all a day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song
All the little birds on J-Bird St.
Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet
[Chorus]Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight
Every little swallow, every chickadee
Every little bird in the tall oak tree
The wise old owl, the big black crow
Flapping them wings sayin' go bird go
A wordy little raven at the bird's first dance
Taught him how to do the bop and it was grand
He started goin' steady and bless my soul
He out popped the buzzard and the oriole
He rocks in the tree-top all a day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song
All the little birds on J-Bird St.
Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet

Here is another ATC Birthday swap "Blossom".
Hubby and I had a fantastic time away at the beach this weekend. I had the best dinner - tuna over garlic sweet potato. I wonder if the restaurant would divulge the recipe.
It was a honeymoon weekend. And I had to laugh as i walked outside our door there laying on the ground was a penny. My hubby just began to laugh. God is so g-r-r-eat!!

Shadows Dance

Shadows Dance

Shadows of Light
from my window
glistening in to bring delight,
dancing on my pages;
dreaming, streaming in with might.
powerful, glorious, brillant light;
flooding my room making it bright.

Only What's Write

Back Cover
I'm working on my back cover for Taking Flight journal. Its pretty dark right now, but i loved using the pink tissue paper. A work in progress.

I moved back to simplicity in my writing. I enjoy a cheap 3-ring school binder and regular writing paper i used in school. The Bic pen is a nice feel to my hand. So I have been writing and writing a lot. It brings such pleasure.

Perfect, new bodies
all wonder in Heaven
Joy Faith Perfected
Dreams realized
Soar Like Eagles
On-going celebration
Party up or is that Down
Celebrate the fun-eral!!

Guess Who's Coming To Town

When The Chips Are Down

Guess who is coming to Williamsburg for the Democratic caucus? For the next few days the air space will be bombarded with military planes, and helicopters. The roadways will be filled with agents of all sorts and so will the waterways.
Yes the President of the USA will be here in our little neck-o-th'-woods.
and i in my cozy littl' house will remain bc its cold outside. b-r-r-r-r.

Eye Am Me

or sew she said as she was developing.
Taking Flight Chapter 1-book journal cover
the other day my hubby noticed my MIL's wild reading glasses.
they definitely made a loud statement of "look at me."
we all make a statement in our clothing.
what does yours read as?
Daily Devotional
this morning before i began reading in the Bible the Lord whispered to me,
What is your greatest need? we chatted for a bit and then i began to read.
Exodus 16:15
this is the bread the Lord has given you to eat
gather according to your need.
I have been pondering that question all day.

Flight-Ning Group

A group of artists are working together on

Taking Flight by Kelly Rae Roberts.

Today I chose the word "JOY" to make art letters for my book cover.

You can't tell that there are three other pieces of fabric attached to the main fabric that makes up this word. One was brown, one multi-colored from a class with Lisa Engelbrecht and a pinky fabric. The underneath fabric was white with textured clouds.

An idea that just came to me - to make each letter - J, O, Y - a small little booklet attached to the cover with a chain. Um, now how to make that happen - i like "N"s technique week folded booklet idea and i think it would work. Everything coming together. Hurray!!! No I may end up making separate booklets with each letter sharing a favorite quote that begins with the letters.

0h Not sure now - but that can be decided later.

Artful Life

Collage Makins'
I am beginning to pull stuff for the collage technique Michelle is going to share with us. I love this pic of a church blanketed in snow. So pristine and serene. I took it last year near my home.
Arful Life

Today has been a most wonderful day. My hubby and i had a breakfast date, from there he took me to Michaels and B&N. After returning home we took our doggie to the park and walked together like newly weds. I enjoy the chats we have lately - of adventurous plans and loving memory-makers in far away places. He wanted to make a run to Trader Joe's to pickup a few unusual food items for our taste buds to explore. I am enjoying my artful life.
But most of all i am learning to live each moment to its fullest.
