ATCs

Wk 3, Exercise 6 Create 3 ATCs, one using color pencils - female face, shoulders
obviously you can tell she lost her soccer game tonight

one using water soluble crayons - chubby guy with umbrella
(i clothed him in pink to make a statement-he's not afraid of that color!)
and last one any person with a pose using any medium i want; so she picked a flower out of your garden and is on the run. she loves colorful clothing!

Sketching Away Faces

The middle animal head is a sketch i did while watching "The Chronicles Of Narnia" with hubby the other night. I love all of the Narnia movies.

i must say work seems to be getting the better of me. i need to work on a better routine to be more productive. So much to do before next Thursday and so little time to do it in. Three family b-days back-to-back. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Son's gf, my oldest and MIL. oh boy i need to buy my b-day cards tomorrow. i'm off tomorrow, so a full day is already planned.

And then there's another anniversary of my FIL's passing on the 6th. I wish he were here to straighten out a few things.

Face Off

my four week class is coming to an end but we can continue. i really have loved this class.

here are more faces i've created. love how they explained the arm and the visual they gave to create it. i could see me playing with this further and creating a hairy monster with those sharp, pointy fingernails. i need to practice my hand and fingers.

Trees Cover - Tree Tenants

this is the cover for Trees Art Galleria page. Its a piece of pellon with Caran d'arche crayons, markers and pencil. It actually took a long time to color all of this in. Hundertwasser's sense of color was phenomenal. just my kind of color - bright and cheery - everything popping.

well Trees page was sent off to The Netherlands. sad to see it go but Hundertwasser and all i've learned will remain. i believe i will make a few more pages representing Hundertwasser.

Suggestions

working on whimsy patterns. BUT i'm stuck on coloring background. The lines are hot pink and lime green, they really stand out with the red/blue circles. What would you suggest for the background? two different colors - one for inside diamond shapes and another for larger diamond shape background? or one color throughout?

Rooted

Rooted Deep

taking a stand can feel lonely
but you are never along
God is always with you.

i may be in the dance
but i'm not leading.

follow Me and i will make you fishers' of men.
that's what Jesus spoke.
this lesson using stylization and trees create a pic. My trees are alive of course they are.
i'm amazed at how the light and dark has worked to create depth. i'm learning so much.
where are your roots grounded? mine - In Jesus Christ alone. No one else can nor nothing else can make a difference like He can.

today one year ago my son took a vow in marriage. my hubby and i bought our DIL daisies to remember her special day. where is God taking us in all of this? does it matter - what matters is am i following Him.

Spontaneity

FAT RECYCLE ATCs

i didn't lay my body down until after 4am this morning. i had ideas running through my mind everywhere. so up to the play room for a little bit of a challenge from FAT trade ATCs Recycle.

Everything in the three ATCs posted here was laying on my cutting table area. I can't throw anything away, not a scrap of anything. The first is a piece from Lisa Engelbrecht class cut jiggy along beside another piece of yellow fabric. I folded the hand-dyed piece to give little pockets.
added scrap word "imagine".
Top Right - same yellow fabric base, daisy flower piece laid over that a bad sample egglet with a torn piece of chip board pic of nesting chicklets. last but not least words "created by" from selvege edge of fabric.
Bottom - not scanned very good bc its 3D with a round black button for center yoyo. base is same yellow fabric base with a piece of yellow card stock and underneath that the melted scrap of egglet threads, scraps between tulle. i think i will add some streaming vines on this one.

I am getting free-e-e-r everyday to play. Come join me, what am i afraid of - it was failure but hey that's just another piece to cut up and use in something else. Not arrived but working toward having fun - not a goal but an intention.

Believing - unknown

Barefoot Believing Let's Play Ball

I'm reading Creative Awakenings - Envisioning The Life of Your Dreams Through Art by Sheri Gaynor. I love this quote
"Dreams are like the paints of a great artist.
Your dreams are your paints, the world is your canvas.
Believing is the brush that converts your dreams into a masterpiece of reality."
- unknown
so from this quote i did the little sketch in the center. my whimsical class is going great.
just wish i had more time to watch videos and play.
off to work i go, see you later.

Tree Tenant for Trees

Tree's Tree Tenant - Singing Bird
i wondered how this page would scan. I used a heavy cellophane page with cut, shaped sheer gift wrap to form my tree. added sheer wrap leaves overlaid, then more leaves outside with a bird.

the bird seems to be running through each rr page. the backing fabric is a leaf pattern too. around the border i added yarn to give a little more texture. this is the front of Trees art gallerie.

i know i am pushing "out-of-the-box" ideas. i hope Trees will like it. the scan is too dark and even trying to play with the adjustments didn't help viewing the page on screen.
MY MIND IS WANDERING
my mind is focused on my son
my hubby's focus our DIL
he went to the bookstore
and
purchased to music cds for her.
I love my husband's heart.
I know God knows the outcome.
Keep Praying.

Monkey Business

I started out with the two whimsical monkeys. Then added the bubbles but they were too much so learning about pattern background i decided to use technical pattern - harlequin or diamond shape pattern. That broke up the busyness. now i like it much better. one suggestion is to highlight monkeys with darker ink or different color. so back to drawing board to see what i can do. love this fun. i added the saying to exaggerate why the bubbles were being created. lol

For Whom The Bell Tolls

All The Flowers of All the
Tomorrows are In the
Seeds of Today

I could not resist giving this title. Gretch didn't know my FIL placed a huge old antique black bell in my flower garden. When i look out my dining room window i see his bell and his beautiful red rose bush. The bush was given as a gift of remembrance when he died. They wrap up around the bell. So much symbolism in this piece of art work. Her hand work in the design and verse are wonderful. Her flower brads are very unusual. and the seed beads are very tiny - reminds me of the mustard seeds i had on a charm bracelet as a teenager. Very special memory. The medallion keyhole is so wonderful. There is just so much detail in this piece. thank you Gretchy-gretch for your heart work. and the journaling of why on the back just as fantastic as the page its self.

I can't imagine what the pages from the other artists will be like!! But God has already planned them out using their masterful hands and minds to create each one.

Easter

Replenish
color pencil, gel pens, sharpie marker
Happy Easter

this is a finished sketch drawn freehand from my whimsical class. my hubby kept asking me if i did the butterfly freehand. i'm working on background and pattern.

after looking at it, i really liked it SO i scanned it in, used my scrapbook program to add word and printed out a fabric sheet of ATCs for my Birthday ATC swap every month. To add a different flavor to each one i beaded certain flowers and added glitz.
i need to work on shading and color. well everything really but this is so much fun.

Leaving An Imprint - Batik

this was a pic from our first cruise. this young deaf girl was sitting in the front store room making her batik fabric. it was amazing to watch. i could not help but weep. the owner cared enough to teach her a trade giving her a more productive life in Grenada. Which leads me to say hubby has booked our next Dec. cruise to the Caribbean. he will never tire of going there. it's his resting place.
EASTER
as Easter approaches i have been wondering what kind of imprint i am leaving on the world around me? watching the "Jesus" movies on tv leading up to his Crucifixion has me contemplating. He paid a price for each one of us to be set free through his death and resurrection. But yet many don't acknowledge Him. Where would i be without that loving relationship in my life every day?

Miser from Miserable

I love this pastor's heart for artists. check out his blog post for today.
http://amokarts.blogspot.com/
When i started my art class on whimsy the first class produced this. This pic came from my quiet time with God that morning. I know it was God drawn because i could never in myself put so much symbolism in this sketch.
I have been enjoying Hundertwasser and his art work. He loved using a boat-shape for lips. I juxtaposed the broken divided heart with the boat-shape lips. Out of the mouth the heart speaks. A stolen kiss outside marriage, a wink, a look, the distraction and lust of the flesh drives when you don't take control. The weight of sin is death. It continues to grow out of his neck and sit on his shoulder but its a growth being fed by lust. The enemy - serpent - continues to wrap himself around Authority until he has produced a baby that emerges from your mind. I can't tell how this pic is ministering to me in the midst of my turmoil in my life.

Trees & Hundertwasser

Guess Who
No Not the Grinch

I'm working on my next rr dream house page for Trees. She chose the artist Hundertwasser as her inspiration dream house cover. i loved this artist so much i have purchased a book by Harry Rand about Hundertwasser. He was very colorful; just my kind of guy in the color department. I love his boat lips, his repetitive onion image and spirals.

The pic you are looking at has been cropped and magnified. Trees room is turning out to be such fun to create. There is so much running through my head; so much so that i am thinking of doing a journal of artwork from the notes and doodles i am coming up with. But one thing at a time.

My Job

last night i worked the ticket booth, and it was very busy. i do believe the schedule for spring is a permanent one - 3 nights and one day. there may be one more time slot added but it would be another night. too many nights away from hubby would not be good bc i would never get to be home with him.

off to church - my son will be leading worship at the mission church for another two months. i love watching him grow closer to Our Lord Jesus.

In The Dark

early morning hubby took me to ER bc the pain in my groin area was so bad i could not get up or down a stair. i hated waking him bc he had to work today. by the time i got to ER i could not even walk back to the room. final conclusion they think i have a muscle sprain there - excruciating. it's worse than having my three babies in natural childbirth. can you imagine?
my chest is so hurting from the stress of the pain, blood pressure was up bc of pain.

and how did i get the so-called sprain? had to be getting up off my couch. can you imagine?

Booter-fly

booter-fly

after taking my first fun art class i drew this.
Mechanical pencil, Colored pencils on sketch paper,
highlighted black sharpie pen.
i've added glitter pens on the ladies bodies.
UU if you take a look at this
you can see i dressed my front lady.
i love whimsy!
i'm always curious about the nose rings, belly rings and tats young people. they are a'searchin' just like you and me. if we ever get past all the xterior we may find a wonderful inner soul hiding under it all. pink hair, no hair, spiked hair, stiff hair. different clothing, handmade clothing, what's that in her hair?

this morning in my quiet time and reading my daily Bible devotions i drew another pic from the circumstances we are praying will change. But only by God's intervention - change of heart.
i'll post that one tomorrow - i showed it to my son during our breakfast time together.

keep praying!!
